Randolph County was formed on 05 October 1795 by proclamation of the Governor of the Territory Northwest of the River Ohio [click here for more information]. It became a county with Indiana Territory on 01 JUL 1800 by An act to divide the territory of the United States north-west of the Ohio, into two separate governments . The county's boundaries would change two times before statehood.
